News and Releases
Model releases, tooling changes, and benchmark movements, with primary sources and dates.
News and Releases is the section for things that happened on a date: a model release, a tooling release, a change to a benchmark. The rule for every piece is that dates and numbers come from the primary source (the announcement, the model card, the release notes or the maintainer's post), and that the piece says so when a footnote qualifies a number.
There is one piece here so far: Gemini 3.8 Flash released, on Google's announcement of 2 September 2026. It works from the announcement itself, the Gemini API model and pricing pages, and the DeepMind evaluation document the announcement links. It reads the token limits on the model page, the date on which the pricing is scheduled to change, and the footnotes under the evaluation table, which say more about the comparison than the table does.
News ages faster than anything else on this site. Read it as a record of what the sources said on the day, and check the vendor's current pages before relying on a price or a limit. The section is small because our schedule favours tutorials and paper readings. The two news pieces planned next are an inference or serving tooling release, read from its release notes, and a benchmark or leaderboard change, read from the maintainer's post. For longer-lived material, see Evaluation and Systems.
